[r8] talking head: gregor

[ Gregor is led to a quiet room within the resort with a pair of hammocks to suit the scene, and upon one of them is where the overseer sits. She beams, shuffling her cards in hand (she will not use these), and motions for Gregor to take a seat already!!!
This is the Talking Heads room, and there are cameras. Prepare to loosen those lips! ]

... I don't really know how to feel. I mean-- it's a relief we both had the same thought-! But then, you know, either we're both wrong, or... everybody else was.

[ she swings a bit on her hammock, then curls up as she lays down. ]
The only way to know for sure is to put your most likely candidates into the Truth Booth.
[ ...... ]
Which would be you two or Gustave-san and Date-san, in my opinion.

[he sighs, slumping a little.]
Date can pick this round and test it again if they don't go, but we're in the same group, we can't until the last round... and I think that if it's not him who I'm matched up with, it's gotta be Leslie. Who's also in the second group.

Is she the other one you wanted to pick?

[ a light nudge against his hammock. ]
But I'm glad you and Dettlaff-san had the same idea anyway. Having someone... who understands your troubles is important, just as important as having someone who wants to understand those troubles.

[WHO could do that to sweet sherby!!]
... but I think so too. There's just-- some things, people don't get unless they went through something similar.

... Yeah. But that's still fine, isn't it? As long as they want to try anyway... Even if they'll never truly understand what it's like, even if you'd never wish that understanding on them...
[ ....
is she... even still talking about him...? ]

[but don't think you're escaping from a guy who's an older brother, kiddo. he's quiet for a couple moments, before-]
So're you talking about something you went through, or your guy?

Nosy old man.

sitting up. ]
Will's from a world that's rife with racial politics and conflicts between the classes. His whole... tribe, the Elda, have been discriminated against for as long as anyone can remember, and when we met he was in the middle of a free for all throne succession war. Meanwhile, I'm... me.
[ which isn't a bad thing. but-- ]
My biggest worries have always been my next test and the opinions of my middle school friends. Super small fry. But he never had worries like that either, he'd never had his heart broken like I did either. [ ... ] Kind of a bad trade, but... it's like that. I'll never understand everything Will went through, but I still want to try. And that's enough, right?

[he says, after a little consideration.]
If somebody already gets it, there's a lot you don't need to explain. Doesn't mean it's impossible to do, though, if they're willing to hear you out and really give it a shot-- just takes more work on both sides.
... I know if someone were making that effort, it'd be enough for me. [after all-- so few ever bother.] But I also know I might not always explain it well, or... be able to say as much as they might want to hear about it.

... but she does still know there's other people, both in her round and in his world, that get him. it'd be easier with them. that he chose her anyway still makes her so, so happy. ]
I think they'd be happy with as much as you could, as long as you let them stay by your side. I'm happy with that, anyway.

[they assume they can't. they have bigger concerns. they just don't care. for any number of reasons, they don't make it a focus of theirs.]

[ that's something she feels very strongly about. ]
